• 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I developed a passion for mathematics during highschool. I just love numbers. I started tutoring students at school and this developed into private tutoring.

• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I love teaching mathematics and enjoy all aspects of mathematics. My favourite topics are algebra and index laws.

• Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  I had great teachers in maths and sport in highschool. They both inspired me to become originally a sports teacher and then a mathematics teacher.

• 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  Good listener, adaptive, creative and engaging.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  Practice what you love.

• What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

  Challenges are still the buy in factor of why we do maths. I always link maths to the real world and use games to bridge the gap.

• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  My passion is having a student smile or feel uplifted when they are able to answer a question themselves or understand a difficult topic.

• What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions)?

  I want to see a student smile when they do well on their test or when they finally get that difficult concept or question.
