About Matilda
Hi my name is Matilda and I am a second year at Oxford University. I spent my first year studying Physics at Balliol College and over summer decided to switch to studying Computer Science! I achieved A*A*A in my Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics A levels at the Camden School for Girls in North London in 2019. I am outgoing and sociable and enjoy passing on my enjoyment of Maths and Physics. Whilst studying for my A levels I tutored a year 11 student for her GCSE mathematics exams and we managed to lift her grade from a B to an A* before the summer. This enabled her to go on to study Further Mathematics at A level, and hopefully eventually pursue it at degree level!

My teaching method is personalised to every student however my fundamental approach remains the same. I believe there is value in understanding why and how the mathematical formulas we use in Physics and Maths GCSE and A level come about. I believe that a greater depth to what is taught on syllabus in schools allows students to more easily remember how to approach difficult problems. I think that tutoring should be student based and that the student should be allowed the freedom to ask questions and go deeper into the subject where they see fit to encourage independent learning. My undergraduate studies in Physics allow me to tie in even GCSE level maths and science with bigger more exciting parts of the field. There are areas of Physics that require only GCSE maths, and giving students a taste of a more exciting higher level science will inspire them to work harder at the parts of the subject they find more challenging.

She is genuinely enthusiastic and explains things clearly.
Matilda helped me prepare for my Mathematics and Physics GCSE examinations. She explained complicated topics in a way that was much easier to understand. I found our sessions really helpful in helping me achieve an A and A* in my examinations at the end of the year.
