About Joel
I work as a Clinical Educator in a large children's hospital in the NHS, so I am already familiar with supporting and teaching learners. I have worked for two different NHS Children's Hospitals for nearly 10 years in total. I love teaching, empowering learning and seeing that "penny drop" moment in a student when they understand something they have previously found challenging. I am currently studying a Level 7 Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching & Learning in Clinical Practice, aimed at healthcare educators. I also hold a Visiting Lecturer contract with a local university. My rates are slightly higher than others on this platform but they reflect that I will spend time prior to our session(s) tailoring the structure, content and delivery method(s) to your needs, and the experience that I hold.
I can also offer interview preparation for nurses applying for Band 5 and 6 positions.

I am a warm, friendly and fun teacher. I teach in a facilitative way that promotes independence, analysis and critical thinking. I can provide teaching on specific subjects, or I can help with specific assignments/examination preparation. I can use other multimedia (images, videos etc) to aid your learning experience. Lessons are for undergraduate (and possibly postgraduate) nursing students, and will last between 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on your needs.

Perfect! Having worked with Joel in preparation for an upcoming exam, I honestly couldn’t recommend him more highly. His calm demeanour, supportive approach and clear explanations have made a real difference to my confidence and understanding. Joel breaks things down in a way that makes sense, especially with paediatric scenarios. He’s very responsive to communications, and is approachable with any questions no matter how “silly” they seem. Joel has the attributes of a great teacher, allowing you to learn and build up your knowledge in a way that is appropriate to you.
- Emily was a pleasure to work with in preparation for her oral exam. She always connected onto lessons on time, and sent me the materials I requested to support her, in advance of the lesson so that I could review these.
