About Katherine
I have been teaching in-home maths lessons to 5 high school students, ranging from year 7 to 10, for 2 years now. I am quite familiar with the curriculum as well as the type of questions that students tend to have in their exams. My students are different in their ability and learning style: some are doing really well (they are students from Sydney High School), while the others are quite low at catching up with the program. I build my lesson based on the student's need and always encourage the students to speak out their thinking so that I would know where they have difficulty.

Usually the lessons are built based on the student's need. Before the first day, I will contact the parents to understand more about that student. At the beginning of the day, we will go through the principles of the topic (can be same topic at school or 1-2 weeks in advance, depending on student’s ability) and take some simple exercise as examples. Then we will go solve the homework to see whether the students have any problems. I classify the homework into different types of questions and will give instructions on the steps done in order to solve the questions.
In case the student find the homework is easy, I have some extra resources for him/her to challenge math ability.
