About Louie

After finishing school I began teaching chess at the Living School in Lismore NSW to a group of young and keen chess players, preparing for fortnightly tournaments against other local schools. I have won and placed highly in several regional tournaments and frequent the Melbourne Chess Club. I am 21 years old, live in Melbourne and have played chess religiously for over 7 years. I have a full licence and car and am happy to drive to you.

About the lesson

Organising chess clubs and teaching at small schools gave me a love for teaching students our game. I'm no grandmaster, but I can make all aspects of the game enjoyable and articulate things that are otherwise difficult to understand. Nowhere else will you find someone who can accomodate to a student's learning habits and needs as well as myself. I am warm, fun to be around, love involved discussion and do not shy away from showing my own passion; hopefully contagious! My peak chess.com rating is 2000

With me you'll learn the game in a proper sequence you don't get learning on your own. Instructional games, working through puzzles, understanding the game and exercising fundamental chess principles before opening theory is important for a learner. Would prefer students with an ELO rating of 0-1500; beginners favoured most as this is where my experience lies.
