About Sandra

I am an architect specialized in energy efficiency and Passive House design. My journey began during architecture school, when I joined the construction site of the first certified Passive House in Romania during a summer internship. That experience shaped my understanding of building performance and ignited my interest in sustainable design. After graduation, I worked for three years in an engineering office led by the pioneer who first introduced Passive House technology in Romania, today a recognized authority in the field. During this time, I: • analyzed and optimized over 50 buildings • contributed to raising awareness through illustrations, presentations, manuals and training materials • worked on construction sites, learning Passive House details, materials and performance logic • deepened my understanding of energy efficiency and building physics In parallel, I apprenticed with a senior architect working on timber-based Passive Houses (timber frame and CLT), which helped me bridge engineering thinking with architectural design. I later completed the PHI Passive House Designer / Consultant certification, solidifying my expertise. Today, I work as a freelancer on Passive House and energy-efficient building projects, and I have analyzed and optimized buildings in Europe, the USA, Australia, Africa and Canada. My experience spans concept design, building performance, software workflows and practical site experience — which enables me to teach Passive House principles as a connected system rather than isolated topics.

Together, we will:
• understand Passive House principles
• learn how to design a Passive House buildings
• model buildings in SketchUp using DesignPH
• analyse and optimize building performance using PHPP (passive house planning package)
• prepare designs for Passive House certification

You will gain insight into how to make energy-driven design choices and develop a professional mindset for energy efficient architecture.

If you want to assess building performance, design a low-energy building, or are already using these tools on a project, I will be happy to review and correct your models, guide your workflow, and help you reach your goals efficiently.

My approach is practical mentoring grounded in real projects. Teaching is based on recognised Passive House methodology and informed by 9 years of real-world architectural experience, so you learn workflows actually used in design offices.

In our first lesson, we will assess your objectives, identify your current level and build a personalized learning pathway for you.

My aim is to help you grow into a confident designer capable of applying Passive House and energy-efficient principles in practice.
