About Alexis

With more than 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience, I am committed to helping students build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and achieve lasting success. I have worked with students across a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and learning levels, from elementary school through undergraduate studies, and I understand that every student learns differently. My goal is to create a supportive, respectful, and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and actively engaging in the learning process.

I specialize in teaching math, science, English, and SAT preparation, using personalized instruction tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals. Whether a student needs help improving foundational skills, preparing for exams, completing coursework, or advancing academically, I provide structured guidance, patience, and clear explanations that promote both understanding and confidence.

Professionalism, reliability, and communication are central to my teaching approach. I take pride in being well-prepared, organized, and attentive to each student’s progress. I believe successful tutoring is built on trust, consistency, and a genuine investment in student growth. About the lesson

I take a patient, supportive, and individualized approach to tutoring, recognizing that every student learns differently. With more than 20 years of teaching experience across multiple subjects and grade levels, I adapt my teaching style to match each student’s learning needs, pace, and academic goals. I strive to create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building confidence, and developing strong independent learning skills.

My teaching methods combine clear explanations, guided practice, real-world examples, and step-by-step problem solving. I focus not only on helping students complete assignments and prepare for exams, but also on helping them truly understand concepts and retain information long-term. I regularly assess comprehension throughout lessons and adjust instruction when needed to ensure steady progress.

A typical lesson may include reviewing previous material, identifying areas of difficulty, introducing or reinforcing concepts, working through examples together, and providing independent practice with feedback. For SAT preparation and advanced coursework, lessons may also include test-taking strategies, time management techniques, and targeted skill development.

What sets me apart is my ability to teach a wide range of subjects and skill levels while maintaining a personalized and compassionate approach. I have experience working with students from elementary school through undergraduate level, including students who need extra academic support as well as high-achieving students seeking advanced instruction.
