A Typical Lesson Plan A standard session begins with a quick check-in and review of prior material to activate knowledge. Then, we set a clear objective for the day (for example: identifying main ideas in a passage, structuring a persuasive paragraph, or expanding vocabulary). The lesson moves through three stages: Mini-Lesson – I model the skill or strategy. Guided Practice – We work through examples together, with scaffolding as needed. Independent Practice/Creative Application – The student applies the skill in a short activity, project, or real-world connection. We end with a short reflection and goal-setting to track progress and keep momentum.
