About Katie
Teaching online these past few years I have learned so much. I have learned that you can make rapport with students even though you have never met them. Also I try to never just start doing a problem. I ask them if they first know how to start a problem. Asking questions is so important to a student learning the material. Being professional is very important. I give them the same treatment as if I’m still the classroom.
Math does not have to be a task it can be an opportunity to learn how the world works and how math is so useful in everyday life. I hope to instill a confidence in a student that sometimes can be lost especially in the elementary to middle school transition. I hope that the student develops or rediscovers the love of math. I also hope that they are successful in what ever career they choose.

I have been teaching online for almost eight years. Before that I was a high school math teacher. I have been so blessed with so many students these past 17+ years of teaching. I use many methods to teach concepts. I go at a pace that comfortable for the student. I try to use things they enjoy and incorporate it into the lessons.
