About Jiaxuan
My lessons are practical, supportive and tailored to your personal goals. Whether you are a complete beginner, preparing for the HSK exam, learning Business Chinese, or improving everyday conversation, I will create a learning plan that suits your level and interests.
Lessons are usually 60 minutes long. We will begin with a short review, then learn new vocabulary and useful sentence patterns through dialogues, visual materials and real-life situations. There will be plenty of speaking practice, pronunciation guidance and clear explanations in English when needed. I will also provide suitable practice materials or homework after class to help you make steady progress.

I am a native Mandarin speaker currently completing my master’s degree at the University of Leeds. Having achieved an IELTS score of 6.5 and studied in the UK, I can communicate and explain lessons in both Mandarin and English. Since I also learnt English from the very beginning, I understand how challenging it can be to learn a new language. This experience helps me recognise common difficulties and explain unfamiliar concepts in a clear and encouraging way.
I have taught students ranging from 10 years old to people in their forties. Whether you want to learn Business Chinese, prepare for the HSK exam, improve your everyday conversation skills, or start Mandarin as a complete beginner, I will create a personalised learning plan based on your level, goals, and interests. I also select different materials and activities to suit each student.
I am a patient and supportive teacher, so you never need to be afraid of making mistakes in my lessons. Mistakes are an important part of learning and help us make real progress. Complete beginners are always welcome!
