About Dan
I have a BA Honors First Class from Curtin University. My thesis was about native plant use by Australian explorers on the frontier. My BA included local Perth research, modern politics and IR, Asian Studies and Indigenous Studies.
I have also spent ten years offering sourced answers to inquirer questions on Reddit's Askhistorians. I have discussed subjects ranging from the prehistory of Indigenous Australia; the maritime exploration of Australia by the Dutch, French and British; the colonization of Sydney, Perth and the rest of Australia; the bloody frontier wars; and the Gold Rush and Federation eras.
As someone who grew up in Perth, I am familiar with the history of Rottnest, the Perth CBD, the Swan Valley and the Noongar people.

I offer structured discussions on Australian history topics, including historiography and source recommendations. I also offer advice on how to use bibliographies to find new sources, where to find out-of-print books, how to write effective arguments and other research skills.
