About Shane
I didn't come to coaching as a natural progression from a healthy, athletic upbringing. Health and fitness was the vehicle out of the darkest period of my life: five years of escalating drug abuse.
This informs my approach to this day, and is why I'm so passionate about understanding human behaviour. Six years into coaching, I find myself most drawn to the people who feel they've tried it all, and still can't figure out why nothing sticks.

Will I provide training programmes? Of course. I'll also be offering nutritional guidance to support vitality, strength and a leaner physique. But this is information you can obtain anywhere.
My job is not simply to tell you what to eat or how to train. Nor is it simply to motivate you for the time we spend working together. The aim of my coaching is to engage in a mutual exploration of a simple question: "why?"
Why do you abandon attempts at getting in shape after a few weeks? Is it really as simple as a lack of discipline? (Hint: it never is.) Why do you do well during the week and fall off track at the weekend? Why do you seem to sabotage your efforts just when things are going well?
Sporadically throwing more effort at the problem - hoping that, for some bizarre reason, this time you'll conjure up the willpower to see it through - is doomed to fail.
Sustained change requires understanding your behaviour and the forces driving it. As far as I see it, this is non-negotiable.
I'm not a psychologist and this isn't therapy. We won't be diving into the past to uncover trauma. This work is rooted in the present and the future. That said, given my deep interest in behaviour change, I mentored under a psychologist for close to a year to sharpen my understanding. This sits alongside six years of coaching experience working with a range of clients, both male and female.
My coaching is not for those looking for tactics to navigate a busy life. It's for those with a bit of time and energy to spare, who are frustrated at going around the same loop: trying, failing, and ending up right back where they started.
