I'm a research student myself and am doing research in neuroscience. As such, my lessons will be geared towards students who require assistance with their biological studies (high school) and/or who are looking to enter or continue with their biological degrees (undergraduate).
My lesson structure will be close to that seen in university:
- if not provided to the student already, I will format learning objectives according to what the curriculum states and work with the student to form a timetable for each topic to be covered.
- I'm willing to go through practice tests/papers with students and to also assist them with assignments if necessary.
- I strongly urge that students do as much background reading as possible in between sessions and to make their own study guide/summary notes of their reading material.
I'm a fairly easy going person and am well aware of the hectic schedules of our lives, so I'm fairly flexible when it comes to booking a class. Additionally, if students do require extra assistance, I will do whatever I can to ensure that they get whatever help is needed. However, I do insist that students who attend need to be ready to put in the effort that is expected from them. As stated above, I'm more than happy to provide whatever assistance I can, but will need equal enthusiasm and readiness to learn from my mentee.
Group classes will be limited to a maximum of 5 people.
I am currently a PhD candidate doing my research in neuroscience. I've worked as a tutor and lab demonstrator for undergraduates at the University of Western Australia for 3 years. In these roles, I've taught students human neuroanatomy and physiology, mentored them on how to conduct research protocols, how to do critical analyses of published journal articles, and how to produce and present their research topics.
All fees will need to be paid at the end of each class. Copies of online money transfers will be required with each transaction.
Lesson cancellations must be done via text or email at least 3 hours before scheduled time. If cancellations are made within 3 hours of scheduled time, a fee of $15 will be charged.

Perfect! Everything was explained really well
Allisha is very clear about where she requires help in her subjects and is a proactive tutee who engages in discussions. She is also understanding and accomodating when setting up session times that are comfortable for both of us.
