About John
I'm an artist, creative researcher, and museum curator. Originally from the Midwestern United States, my undergraduate studies were in Fine Arts, English, and Comparative Literature. After my bachelor's degree I worked in design, marketing, and academic libraries. I completed my Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art, as well as a Graduate Certification in Museum Studies, at the University of Michigan before moving to London to complete a PhD in Sound Studies and Museum Studies at the University of the Arts London.
I have a lot of experience helping non-native speaking students with English essay writing, and have published multiple books and articles in academic journals. Let's work together to polish your writing skills!

As a private tutor, I take our work together seriously – but I also like to keep things informal. I'm a great listener and respond to student questions thoughtfully, using them to adjust each lesson so that you get the most out of our time together. My lessons usually last one hour.
Most of my teaching experience is with students at the college/university level. I have taught at universities in the UK and the United States, and have been working towards teaching certification here in the UK.
