About Samuel
I am an experienced tutor with a passion for physics, maths, and programming. I have a masters in theoretical physics from the Unviersity of Durham and am currently pursuing a PHD in computational condensed matter physics, meaning I have extensive hands on experience with the subject.
In the five years I have been tutoring I have helped many students reach their aspirations, some going from bottom set to top in a matter of months, and others finding themselves converted from hating the subject to applying to do it at university. I understand that there is more to teaching than divulging information. I aim to engage, inspire, and push students to get them to the point where they no longer need a tutor and are capable of independent learning.

For new students we will begin by talking about how they feel about the subject, what areas they feel strongest and weakest on so we can work together on crafting an approach that will work the best for them.
Often we will start a topic from scratch, covering all the theory to make sure there are no gaps in the students foundations, then practice what we have learnt by doing exam questions until the student knows the topic like the back of their hand. I also aim to make students confident in themselves, as many exam performance issues are psychological and not down to the students inherent capabilities.
