About Javier

With a Doctorate in Spanish from the University of Iowa and over 7 years of teaching experience in classrooms and one-on-one settings, I bring both academic expertise and a genuine passion for helping students succeed. I’ve worked with learners of all ages and levels, from young beginners taking their first steps in Spanish to advanced students refining their literary analysis or creative writing skills. I pride myself on being reliable, patient, and highly adaptable. Every lesson is prepared with care, tailored to your specific goals, and delivered in a supportive environment where you can learn at your own pace. My students know they can count on me to provide clear guidance, constructive feedback, and consistent encouragement. Above all, I want you to feel confident — not only in your Spanish, but also in your ability to grow, express yourself, and enjoy the journey of learning.

About the lesson

I believe language learning should be both effective and enjoyable, no matter your age, level, or goals. I work with students of all ages — from complete beginners to advanced speakers — and tailor every class to match your interests, needs, and learning style. Whether you’re preparing for an exam, improving professional communication, traveling, or simply learning for fun, I’ll adapt our lessons so they’re relevant and motivating for you.

In my lessons, you can expect:
- Engaging conversations that build fluency, confidence, and listening skills.
-Clear explanations of grammar and vocabulary, always connected to real-world situations.
- Cultural insights into Hispanic history, literature, and everyday life.
- Creative activities — storytelling, roleplay, and writing exercises — that help you express yourself naturally in Spanish.
- Personalized materials designed specifically for your level, goals, and interests.

I create a supportive, no-pressure environment where mistakes are seen as stepping stones to success. My goal is for you to feel comfortable experimenting with language and to see tangible progress from day one.

A typical lesson plan* looks like this:
- Warm-up – short conversation or review of previous material.
- Main focus – targeted grammar, vocabulary, or pronunciation point.
- Application – interactive speaking, reading, or writing activities.
- Cultural connection – a literary excerpt, article, song, or real-life scenario to deepen understanding.
- Wrap-up & feedback – recap of key points and tips for independent practice.
*Keep in mind that this is just an example. Lessons can be tailored according to the student's needs or expectations.
