About Suzanna

Hi, my name is Suzi. I have recently graduated from the University of the Arts London with a First Class Honours degree in photography. I am passionate about teaching photography to a young generation. During my A Levels, I taught an after-school photography club because I felt that there was a lack of arts education, except for traditional drawing and painting. Photography can be a great medium for creative minds who don't enjoy the types of art that are normally taught in school. It is also a powerful mode of storytelling, which can help students explore ideas and concepts that are fictional or ones that draw from real-life events.

About the lesson

During my A level studies I taught photography in Year 7-9 afterschool clubs. This gave me an insight into teaching which appealed to me as I love helping students to find and refine their interests and, as photography isn't usually a subject taught, it gave them a chance to explore their creativity in a new way. Photography has been my passion for many years and I would love to share this passion with others. The lessons would be a mix of theory and practice with options to go to a location (within London) to practice skills taught within the lessons.

Perfect! This was a really clear, helpful and inspiring lesson for my 16yo daughter. She knows very little technically about using all the settings on a camera, but was immediately reassured and given the confidence to work through the basic principles. The slide show accompanying the lesson was superb, and had clearly taken a lot of thought and work to get right. Most important of all though was the two-way dialogue, making sure she understood each step and could ask questions. We've already booked the next lesson and are planning ahead for more after that, Suzanna is an excellent teacher and really easy to work with and schedule lessons.

She has a confident, open, approachable personality which allows pupils to feel comfortable in their learning environment and she builds a rapport with them quickly. With her teaching style Suzanna uses questioning to help pupils develop and strengthen their understanding making sure pupils can be the best they can possibly be. Further to this Suzanna helps to rectify pupils misconceptions easily and leads them on to the correct pathway. I believe that with her welcoming personality and her wealth of knowledge that Suzanna would be a great tutor.
