About Arash
I am a physicist at the University of Toronto, and I hold a PhD in Physics from the University of British Columbia. I have six years of experience teaching physics, from introductory levels through advanced university-level courses, and I have learned to explain the same idea in many different ways, because what makes sense to one student rarely lands the same way for the next.
What I enjoy most about tutoring is the moment a student stops seeing physics as a wall of formulas to memorize and starts seeing why those formulas exist at all. I remember being confused by the same concepts myself, and I remember which explanations finally made them click. That is what I try to give every student: patience, a clear path through the hard parts, and the real satisfaction of understanding something that once felt out of reach. Whether you are preparing for a high school exam or working through a demanding university course, I bring the same care and curiosity to our lessons that I bring to my own research.

Teaching Methodology: I build every lesson around understanding, not memorization. Before starting a new topic, I ask questions to find out what a student already knows, then I begin from the exact point where their reasoning breaks down, rather than restarting from the textbook. From there, I work through problems and show the thinking behind each step, because my experience shows that this is what makes a new concept eye opening: going through several examples reveals not just what the concept is, but why it matters and why physicists needed it in the first place.
This also naturally adjusts to each student's level. If a concept clicks after two examples, we move faster to harder applications. If it takes six, we stay there until the reasoning is solid, since rushing ahead on a shaky foundation costs more time later than it saves now.
My lessons suit high school students preparing for exams or trying to build a genuine foundation in physics, as well as university students taking introductory or intermediate courses such as mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics and astrophysics. I also work with students preparing for physics-heavy entrance exams, or who need focused help with a specific unit, problem set, or upcoming exam. Whether the goal is passing a course, building confidence, or developing real physical intuition, I adjust the pace and depth to match.
