I know Dale from our time together in the same theoretical solid-state physics research group. He has a high aptitude for mathematics and was very much involved in his work, applying himself with persistence and dedication and often going beyond the scope of his research projects. Through hard work, he was able to develop a good understanding of the subject material. His presentation and explanation of his work is always clear and well organized. His greatest attribute is science communication, whereby he expends a great deal of effort making complex ideas accessible to everyone. Dale’s personal qualities are as impressive as his intellectual accomplishments. I have never known him to be dishonest or untrustworthy.
