About Matthew
Matthew Li is a Y10 student in Toronto, and he has been playing the piano for 12 years. Having passed the highest level piano exam in China at nine, he was also recognised by many piano competitions in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Japan. Matthew moved abroad in 2017 and continued his music journey in England, then Canada. At the age of 13, he obtained the Diploma of Piano Performance (ARCT) at Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM). During these years, he attended numerous national and international competitions, including the Grand Prize in the Rocky Mountain Piano competition 2021, 2nd Place (Piano Diploma) in the 2021 OMFA Provincial Competition, Honour Prize for Neapolitan Masters International Piano Competition 2020, etc. Meanwhile, he has always attempted to share and contribute his musical knowledge as a volunteer. He has served at The Oscar Peterson School of Music as an assistant teacher.
Matthew is also able to give beginner lessons for woodwinds, as he has played the clarinet for six years. He can teach any theory/harmony from Level 1 to ARCT as well.
