About Tara
I hold a Bachelor of Music in Piano Studies, a Master of Music in Keyboard Pedagogy, and a PhD in Music Education. During the past 9 years, I have worked with students of different ages, backgrounds, and musical interests. My passion for teaching began when I discovered how meaningful musical progress can transform confidence and motivation. Helping students achieve goals while developing a lifelong appreciation for music continues to inspire me. Every learner brings a unique perspective that enriches the teaching experience.
My teaching philosophy centers on understanding, encouragement, and adaptability. I believe students learn most effectively when lessons are tailored to their individual strengths and goals. Technical development is always connected to musical expression so that learning feels meaningful and practical. Students receive clear instruction, supportive feedback, and opportunities to grow at a comfortable pace. This creates a positive environment where confidence can develop naturally.
Outside teaching, I enjoy researching music education, exploring piano literature, and collaborating with other musicians. These activities help me bring fresh ideas and perspectives into lessons. Watching students grow from hesitant beginners into confident performers is deeply rewarding. I strive to create lessons that are engaging, supportive, and effective. My goal is to help learners build skills and experiences that remain valuable throughout their lives.

My piano lessons are designed to help students become comfortable, confident, and expressive musicians from the very beginning. I focus on developing finger independence, keyboard awareness, rhythmic accuracy, reading fluency, chord recognition, and musical interpretation through practical learning experiences. Students are encouraged to understand how different musical elements work together rather than simply memorizing notes. Lessons combine structured skill development with enjoyable musical activities that keep learners engaged and motivated. This approach helps students build a strong foundation while maintaining enthusiasm for learning.
Every lesson is customized according to the learner’s goals and interests. Some students enjoy playing contemporary music and learning accompaniment patterns, while others focus on classical repertoire and performance preparation. Activities may include sight reading exercises, duet playing, ear training challenges, rhythm development tasks, and creative improvisation. Students receive detailed guidance that helps them improve efficiently while developing confidence in their abilities. Progress is built through clear objectives and achievable milestones.
My goal is to help students become independent musicians who can learn, perform, and enjoy music confidently. As technical skills improve, learners gain greater freedom to express themselves creatively. Lessons encourage focus, curiosity, and self-discipline. Every accomplishment contributes to stronger musicianship and personal growth. I want students to leave each lesson feeling inspired and eager to continue exploring music.
