About Andrew
I'm a Brisbane-based musician and sound engineer. I'm also a private piano and theory teacher with 6 years of teaching experience in the private and in the TAFE sectors and have successfully passed students through the AMEB examination system.
Qualifications:
ANZCA Modern Pianoforte 8th Grade (with First Class Honours) - 2011
ANZCA Modern Theory 6th Grade - 2011
Bachelor of Music from Queensland University of Technology - 2015
Cert IV in Training and Assessment from Rose Training - 2017

I believe that each student's combination of goals and learning needs are unique and so will always adjust my approach to best support their progress. A solid technical foundation on the keyboard (along with a working knowledge of music theory) will always enable the student to musically express themselves through their instrument and explore its full potential - regardless of what musical style they wish to pursue playing.
My end goal with each student is that they would not only learn a repertoire of songs, but that they would learn the instrument. It's my experience that this is best achieved through teaching a combination of technical work (scales, arpeggios etc), song repertoire and exercises in improvisation.
