About Poppy
I am currently in my second year of drama school, and will leave with a BA (Hons) in Actor Musicianship. Although this course is at a drama school, it is full of music, meaning I have a well rounded knowledge of all instruments, and am proficient at music theory.
I started playing music at age five when I took up the piano. Four years later at age nine, I had my first harp lesson, and now play the harp for weddings and other events. I have had singing lessons for seven years, and am trained in both classical and musical theatre singing. Last year I started playing the saxophone and recently started learning the cello.

I have a very bubbly personality and believe that music should be something you enjoy, so I will always push you to find things that interest you and that you want to play. As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD only a few years ago, I found that playing music is such a good way to sort out your thoughts, and boost your mood, and I want to give everyone that skill.
I strive to bring something fun to every lesson, but if you would prefer to just knuckle down and focus on something in particular, I will help you break it down, find an organised way to practice it, and get you started on the right path.
I believe lessons should be in the hands of the students, and will never dictate what path someone should take on their musical journey.
In summary, I want people to have fun and enjoy playing the piano, whether they aspire to be a concert pianist, the next Elton John, or a lawyer :)

I firmly believe that technique is one of the most important aspect of any instrumental playing. As someone who suffers from pain due to not have using good technique for years and then had to spend a year correcting it, I am adamant the same thing won’t happen to my students. I currently study Actor Musicianship, and so will teach not just playing piano, but performance techniques. I can also help people wishing to learn how to accompany themselves singing, as this is something I do a lot of.
I teach all ages, and all abilities, and tailor my lessons for the pupils individually. A typical lesson will be split 1/3 technique and technical exercises, and the rest of the time will be used for repertoire. If you want to get grades I can also accommodate this, and take you through the syllabus. If you don’t desire to do grades, I will pick a few rep pieces that I think would suit you, and also listen to what you would like to play and incorporate this into the lessons. I will also teach my students theory, and if you are a complete beginner I will guide you through all the basic knowledge. Lessons can either be half and hour, forty five minutes or an hour long.
Although this advert is for piano lesson, I will also be here if ever need an accompanist for anything, and I also hold two Gr8’s in singing, so can help with any vocal rep you may have.
