I design my lessons around each individual student, based on the ways in which they learn most successfully, their strengths and weaknesses, as well as their musical ambitions and interests. Depending on the student my lessons often include technique, theory, sight-reading/notation, aural/listening, singing, music history, interpretation, composition, improvisation, performance, practice methodology and, especially for younger students, games and play. Music is an art form and so I try to incorporate creativity into my lessons wherever possible. This not only helps develop greater musicianship, but also makes lessons more enjoyable and students more motivated.

The majority of my students play classical repertoire but I also teach many of them Jazz and Popular Genres. About half of my students opt for taking exams and so far I have had a 100% pass rate across all the grades (including grade 5 theory and grade 8 piano) with many getting merits and distinctions.

As well as piano lessons I offer lessons in music theory or composition/songwriting and also offer tutoring for GCSE or A-level music students.

Lessons are usually 1 hour long although 30/45 mins and 1.5/2 hour lessons are also available.
The consultation lesson is FREE.

Students can come to me in Hulme, Manchester (M15) where I teach on a beautiful Yamaha Upright Piano (U3). or I also offer online lessons.
