About Paul
Paul is an experienced and dedicated tutor with a consistent history of success over fifteen years with students of all ages from independent school entrance and academic scholarship at 11+ and 13+, through GCSE and the IB Diploma Programme to A-Level and entrance to Oxford and Cambridge. Paul tutors in the core subjects for Common Entrance and brings his passion for English, mathematics, the sciences, arts and humanities to enrich the learning and cultural education of each of his students.
Paul is a polymath. His love of English language and literature is evidenced by his creative writing in prose and poetry. He is also engaged in ongoing dialogue in philosophy, mathematics and theoretical physics with academic friends and colleagues at universities including Oxford and Cambridge, and institutions including CERN.
This benefits his students who find his deep enthusiasm and multidisciplinary knowledge brings alive their own journey to academic and cultural attainment and enables them to see inherent connectivity across their many fields of study.
Prior to donning the mantle of academic tutor, Paul was a highly capable and respected professional. He specialised in consulting to leaders and top teams on transformational vision, stretch-goals, innovative strategies and responsible governance. A seasoned heavyweight business achiever, he had many years of experience in both private and public sectors from banking and insurance to telecommunications and the television industry.
Particularly respected for his strong contribution to thought capital, sound and far-reaching strategic thinking and guiding influence as a corporate mentor, Paul had a reputation for inspirational leadership, people-motivation, innovation and creativity.
Paul’s mentoring, counselling and training experience was a critical factor in his decision to set up the Hanover Partnership with like-minded colleagues with a view to supporting the third-sector educational trust, Hanover Foundations. Paul worked closely with the Department for Education on innovative programmes designed to improve the academic attainment of students from challenging backgrounds.
Paul worked directly with young people in several schools in Leicester and London, both individually and in a classroom environment. This experience, combined with his natural empathy and life-long learning as a parent, informs his approach to tutoring young minds.
