About Ramya
I'm Dr Ramya Emusani, a physicist with over ten years of research experience and a PhD in Physics from the University of Hyderabad. I've spent my career working at the frontier of the subject - most recently as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Nankai University, where my work on single-molecule electronics was published in journals including Physical Review Letters, Angewandte Chemie and the Journal of the American Chemical Society.
Before moving to Australia, I spent four years as an Assistant Professor of Physics, teaching undergraduate students and coordinating research programs. That experience taught me something I use every day: brilliance in a subject doesn't automatically make someone a good teacher. What matters is the ability to see where a student's understanding has broken down and rebuild it, patiently, from that exact point.
That's how I work. When a student tells me they "just don't get" electricity, or waves, or quantum mechanics, there's almost always a specific misconception sitting underneath - often from months or years earlier. I find it, explain the concept in plain language, and then watch them work through problems until the reasoning is genuinely theirs. Not memorized. Understood.
I've worked in research labs, I can also show students where the physics on their page actually matters — in lasers, nanomaterials, medical imaging and the electronics in the phone in their pocket. Students consistently tell me this is the part that makes the subject come alive.
I'm based in Melbourne, hold Australian permanent residency with full work rights, and take professionalism seriously: clear communication, punctual lessons, and regular feedback to parents on how their child is progressing.

I teach physics by building understanding from the ground up, not by memorizing formulas. Most students struggle not because the physics is too hard, but because a concept three weeks earlier was never fully understood — and everything since has been built on sand.
Every lesson follows the same rhythm: I find the exact gap, explain the underlying concept in plain language, work through a problem with you, then hand you a similar problem to solve while I watch. That last step matters most — I can see precisely where your reasoning breaks, and fix it on the spot.
I also bring real research into the classroom. Having worked on single-molecule electronics, nanomaterials and ultrafast lasers, I can show you where the physics on your page actually appears in a working lab. Students consistently tell me this is what makes abstract topics finally click - it stops feeling like a list of things to memorize for an exam.
