About Gaurav
Hello, my name is Gaurav Chawla, and I’m excited to teach you and help you with Maths, Physics and Computing subjects. I’m a dedicated and passionate educator with a strong commitment to helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I hold an M.S. in Information Technology from University of Stuttgart, Germany, and I have 3 years of experience teaching Maths, Computing and Physics, including working with mixed-ability classes. I also work as a Senior Software Developer and Tech Lead in a multi-national company in United Kingdom. My teaching style is student-centered, and I strive to create a classroom environment that is inclusive, engaging, and supportive for all learners. I believe that every student can succeed with the right guidance, encouragement, and opportunities to explore their strengths. I use a variety of teaching methods—interactive lessons, differentiated instruction, and real-life connections—to make learning both accessible and exciting. What makes me unique as a teacher is my ability to build strong relationships with students, adapt to their needs, and inspire confidence, even in those who may struggle at first. I’m always eager to grow professionally, and I value collaboration with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community. I’m truly passionate about education, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to contribute positively to your school’s team and support every learner’s journey to success.

My teaching style is centered around engagement, clarity, and adaptability. I use a blend of techniques to support different learning styles, including: Interactive teaching: Encouraging student participation through questioning, group work, and discussions. Scaffolded learning: Breaking down complex ideas into manageable steps and gradually increasing independence. Visual aids and technology: Using slides, diagrams, videos, and interactive tools (e.g., quizzes, digital whiteboards) to enhance understanding. Real-world connections: Linking content to everyday life to make learning more relevant and memorable. Formative assessment: Checking understanding throughout the lesson with quick quizzes, exit tickets, or class polls. Usual Structure of a Class My lessons typically follow a consistent and supportive structure: Starter / Hook (5–10 mins) – A short activity, question, or discussion to activate prior knowledge and spark curiosity. Main Input (15–25 mins) – Clear explanation or demonstration of the new concept, often involving student interaction. Guided Practice (15–20 mins) – Students apply what they’ve learned in a structured task, often working in pairs or groups. Independent Practice (10–15 mins) – Individual work to assess understanding and reinforce learning. Plenary / Wrap-up (5 mins) – Review key points, answer questions, and reflect on the learning. Special Features as a Teacher What sets me apart is my ability to build strong, respectful relationships with students and create a safe learning space where everyone feels valued. I'm also: Patient and encouraging, especially with those who struggle or lack confidence. Reflective and open to feedback, constantly improving my practice. Creative, often bringing in fun, unexpected elements to make lessons enjoyable. I believe that when students are respected, challenged, and supported, they thrive. Who My Classes Are Intended For I teach school-aged children from primary until class 12th but I also enjoy working with mixed-ability groups and students who need additional support. My adaptable approach makes me comfortable teaching at various levels, including enrichment or catch-up sessions.
