About Becky

Hi there! Thank you for considering me as your/your child’s prospective tutor. I am an Adelaide, South Australia-based, third-year university student studying a Bachelor of Education (Primary). I have completed several primary school placements spanning Year 1 to Year 6. I am also experienced in adult education, previously working as a business trainer facilitating training to new and existing employees of an energy company. For your peace of mind, I have a current Working with Children clearance. I am a committed, organised, punctual and passionate educator who will work with you to reach mutually agreed-upon goals.

About the lesson

My personal teaching philosophy is inspired by American educator, Rita Pierson. In her inspirational TED talk "Every Kid Needs a Champion", she poignantly states that "kids don't learn from people they don't like!". This statement truly resonates with me, and I believe education should be centred around human connection and meaningful relationships. Therefore, upon meeting with you/your child, I always like to get to know you as human beings first and students second. I believe that meaningful student-educator relationships can be built on many factors, such as knowing students as individuals and how they learn, catering for students' diverse needs and having a positive attitude. Positivity breeds positivity! I also believe that meaningful relationships facilitate engagement and motivation, which unlocks the potential to have successful learning experiences.

Rates shown above are for individual lessons. Group lesson (2-4 students) are as follows:
- Single lesson $60
- 5 lessons $255
- 10 lessons $450

Please be advised there is a travel fee attached for certain distances from my home located in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. Fees apply per session and are as follows:
Within 20km - no charge
20km to 30km - $5
Exceeding 30km - $8
