About Sarah

I have a University of British Columbia Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language and Culture with over 10+ years of exposure to PutongHua and HanYu (Mandarin and Chinese Written Language). With 5 years studying the language intensively, 6 months in Beijing Language and Culture University. I have been able to set myself apart from many trying to learn Chinese. It's not been the easiest journey, lots of knowledge still left to be learned. I have WeChat, read, write, speak, and listen in Mandarin skills to the high school and first-year university level. Trust me, it's not a relatively simple language to grasp. Once you have learned it, then it's better to practice as much as possible with the native speakers. They will help with the intonation and sentence structure. It's a perfect idea to make sure you research that this is something you will be passionately embarking on this journey towards learning Chinese Mandarin.

About the lesson

My lessons are fun and thought-provoking, as they include several types of listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities. Games, artificial intelligence utilization, movies, TV shows, and musical lessons. I believe that each individual is entitled to learn about Chinese in their own capacity. I teach in the range from absolute beginner to complete intermediate tutoring who have an almost high school level of grasping the language. I have written and qualified as the Han Yu Shui Ping Kaoshi (HSK) level 5. I am fun and enticing, my personality keeps my students challenged and captivated. I also have a Teach English as a Foreign Language certificate, and taught children from ages 2-5 years of age for about 3 years. The most amazing thing about children is their ability to grasp concepts in language most adults still struggle with. I work best with children, youth, and adults, including older adults. I divide the lessons up into different topics, and include various avenues of teaching, including using PowerPoint, illustrations, games, pop culture reference, a bit of history behind Chinese characters. Even up until this day, I am still fascinated with Chinese Language and Culture.
