About Oliver
I have been tutoring as a full-time pursuit since 2017. I love how dynamic 1-2-1 sessions are, and seeing the quick progress of students is so inspiring. I find teaching very natural and can't imagine doing anything else! I am fully DBS-checked and can provide references on request.
Outside of teaching, I love to read, walk our dog and am a massive music fan.

My lessons are fun and engaging. I use games and puzzles to entertain and stimulate students before covering the topics that they need to practise in an individual and tailored way. As a humanities graduate, I come to Maths with a keen eye for how it can be framed to appeal to students who aren't necessarily 'natural' mathematicians (whilst at the same time loving its logical patterns to speak to those who are). I keep lessons varied, rarely spending more than 20 minutes on any exercise, so that students don't get frustrated or bored. I think that a student's happiness and enjoyment of their work are the most fundamental thing to get right. Academic progress develops from there. My lessons are typically 1 hour long and I offer Maths from Year 1 up to Year 7. I have over 3,000 hours of teaching experience in a 1-2-1 context and around 1,000 of that in Maths (at a guess!).
