About Isabella
Isabella Deng started playing the flute at the age of 8. She is currently second principal flutist at The Hotchkiss School. She was principal flutist of Norwalk Youth Symphony's Principal Orchestra and the Young Artists Philharmonic. She has participated in and won numerous competitions such as the Suzanne Culley Competition, Fontenay Festival, and Schubert Club Young Musicians Festival. Isabella is the 2024 MTNA Competition Eastern Division Winner and 1st place winner of the VIVO International Competition. She made her debut at Carnegie Hall at the age of 9 and has consistently performed there since in both the Stern Auditorium and Weill Recital Hall. She will perform there again this 2024. She currently studies under Karen Bogardus who is principal flute of the Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra and Allison Hughes who teaches at The Hotchkiss School.

I am happy to work on any piece of repertoire or assign new pieces. I enjoy playing French Romantic or early 20th century, however, Baroque or Classical is equally as enjoyable. I really look forward to hearing you play!
