About Lara
I am Lara Hattingh, a South African artist now based in New Zealand.
My practice blends personal and collective narratives, drawing on my cultural roots in South Africa and my experiences living abroad. I hold a BA in Language Studies and have studied at Pro Arte Alphen Park in Pretoria.
I enjoy sharing my artistic practice with others and helping them develop both their artistic skills and creative expression. My work reflects my commitment to storytelling, and I’m excited to guide students on their own creative journeys.

As a practicing artist with international exhibition experience, I offer personalised online lessons in oil painting and drawing for all levels.
My teaching approach is tailored to each student’s goals, skill level, and interests. Lessons typically last 1-2 hours and include personalised feedback, homework, and step-by-step demonstrations.
We’ll begin each session by reflecting on the previous lesson and reviewing any student work created in between. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced artist, my aim is to guide you at every stage, ensuring you develop your technique, creative expression and confidence in your work!
