About Vita
I was born in Ukraine, where my grandfather first sat me down in front of a chessboard and taught me the game I would carry with me for the rest of my life.
When he passed away, I wanted to honor him the only way that felt right — by playing. I walked into a chess club and played a game in his memory. That single game led me to training, and training led me to eight years of professional play.
Life took me in other directions — university, new cities, new chapters — and for a while I stepped away from the board. But chess never really left me. Eventually, I found my way back, competing at the US Women’s Open in Las Vegas and rediscovering why I fell in love with the game in the first place.
To me, chess has always been about more than winning. It’s about how you think — how you plan, adapt, and see the bigger picture. That’s what I love! That’s what I teach!
