About Eleonora

Hello! I'm Eleonora, a professional harpist and experienced harp teacher originally from Florence, Italy, and now based in San Francisco.

I began studying the harp at the age of nine and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Harp from the Conservatory of Music in Florence and a Master's degree in Harp from the Conservatory of Music in Parma.

Alongside my career as a professional performer, I have been teaching harp for more than ten years to both children and adults. I teach classical and Celtic harp and work with students of all ages and levels — from complete beginners discovering the instrument for the first time to more advanced students looking to develop their technique, musicality, repertoire, or performance skills.

My teaching is personalized to each student. I believe that learning music should be both structured and enjoyable, so I adapt lessons to your goals, interests, experience, and learning style.

In 2015, I completed training as a certified Music Learning Theory teacher. This approach views music as a language and emphasizes developing musical understanding through listening, singing, movement, and active musical experiences.

I also bring extensive professional performance experience to my teaching. From 2011 to 2017, I performed with the Orchestra of the Royal Northern College of Music of Manchester during the Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte of Montepulciano. Since moving to San Francisco in 2018, I have continued performing as a freelance harpist, both as a soloist and with ensembles.

Whether you have always dreamed of playing the harp, are returning to the instrument after many years, or want to take your playing to the next level, I would love to help you discover the joy of making music on this beautiful instrument.

Lessons are available online or in person, and I can teach in both English and Italian.

About the lesson

Every student is different, so I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to learning the harp.

During our first lessons, I like to understand your musical background, what you would like to achieve, and what kind of music inspires you. From there, I create lessons that combine technique, musicianship, repertoire, and the specific skills you need to reach your goals.

For beginners, we establish a strong foundation in posture, hand position, technique, rhythm, reading music, and basic musicianship while keeping the experience enjoyable and motivating.

For more experienced students, lessons can focus on refining technique, musical interpretation, repertoire, performance preparation, music theory, or overcoming specific technical challenges.

I also draw on my training in Music Learning Theory, which emphasizes learning music through listening, singing, movement, and musical immersion. This can be particularly valuable for young students, helping them develop a natural understanding of music alongside their instrumental skills.

My goal is not simply to teach you how to play the notes. I want you to become an independent, confident musician who understands the music and enjoys making it.
