About Lucia
My name is Lucia and I am an Italian harpist based in London. Besides teaching, I have solo, chamber and orchestral experience of many years. I play with the Young Musicians' Symphony Orchestra, freelance with several orchestras and have had the chance to perform at famous venues such as Wigmore Hall, Saint John's Smith Square and Cadogan Hall. In 2023 I premiered the chamber opera The Red Room by Amir Mahyar Tafreshipour, as part of the Aalborg Opera Festival, Denmark. I have recently concluded my master's, graduating with Distinction from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where I studied under the tutelage of Gabriella Dall'Olio and Frances Kelly, generously supported by a TL scholarship. Previously, I graduated with first class honours from Conservatorio di Como, Italy. I have won several national and international competitions. In the 2015 Soroptimist Competition for Young Talents, I was unanimously awarded a first prize scholarship. In 2024, I won third prize at the Manchester Harp Competition. I have attended masterclasses with renowned international harpists such as Elizabeth Fontan-Binoche, Anna Loro, Judith Liber, Luisa Prandina, Isabelle Perrin, Park Stickney, Heidi Krutzen, Gwyneth Wentink and Fabrice Pierre.

I have been teaching pedal and lever harp for over seven years, privately and in music schools. I like to adapt my approach according to each pupil's needs and I have experience teaching both children and adults. Whether you are willing to learn the harp for fun, or in preparation for grade exams, I will do my best to help you throughout your journey into the harp world by creating personalised practice plans. I can teach in different languages (English, Italian, French and Spanish). I have a valid DBS check. I am currently a harp tutor at Chelsea Quavers Music School. Prior to moving to the UK, I also worked in two Italian music academies, Accademia Europea di Musica (Erba, Como) and Accademia al Santuario (Rho, Milan). Due to the Covid pandemic, I have considerably improved and expanded my online teaching skills. Do not hesitate to contact me for any enquiries.

Harp lessons with Lucia have been such a wonderful experience for our family. Each week Lucia brings happiness and fun to our home with her bright and enthusiastic personality and incredible talent for harp playing. Our children instantly liked Lucia (she is a natural with children) and they are always eager for their lessons with her. The harp is such a unique and fascinating instrument and the sound is so heavenly that harp practice seems to come pretty easily - you can’t help but stop to play it as you walk past. Lucia is always punctual for her lessons and communicates well. Highly recommended!
