About Xotchil

I’m Xotchil Musser, a multi-skilled, award-winning designer with a Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design from Carnegie Mellon University. My work spans theater, dance, experiential marketing, architecture, and interactive art, all centered on the transformative power of light. As your Vectorworks Spotlight tutor, I bring both technical expertise and creative vision from applying these tools across diverse industries. My lessons blend precision with artistry, helping you not only learn the software but also think like a lighting designer. I create a supportive, collaborative learning space where students feel empowered to grow. Whether you’re building confidence with your first lighting plots or refining professional workflows, I’ll guide you step by step with clarity, patience, and real-world insight.

About the lesson

My goal is to make Vectorworks Spotlight clear, practical, and enjoyable to learn — whether you’re just starting out or want to refine your professional lighting workflow.

I focus on hands-on, project-based learning. Instead of abstract tutorials, we work on real examples like stage plots, lighting rigs, and event layouts. I guide students through step-by-step demonstrations, then encourage them to apply each concept on their own projects, with me providing feedback and tips.

* Entertainment design focus – I specialize in lighting, stage, and event design, not just general drafting.

* Personalized lessons – Each student’s goals shape the lesson plan. If you’re preparing for a theater production, your training looks different than if you’re an architecture student.

* Patient and approachable – I break down complex tools into manageable steps so you can gain confidence quickly.

* Real-world insights – I bring practical design workflows from professional projects, so you learn how Vectorworks is actually used in the industry.
