With information becoming more and more accessible these days, things can get confusing quickly. My lessons are tailored to each individual student, regardless of experience. We will cover many areas of production and engineering such as: Production: - Understanding how to utilize Ableton to produce from scratch. - Diving deep through the ins and outs of the software so you can achieve the sound you want. - Learning what makes a great production for artists to sing/rap on. Engineering: - Teaching you the tips and tricks I’ve learned from industry professionals (Leslie Brathwaite). - How to get a great vocal sound and how to mix that within a production. - Learning how to develop your ear. - Learning how to set up your session whether it be for recording, mixing or mastering. - Acoustics and why it’s so important for engineering. The lessons will be informal and at your pace. Everything mentioned above are just some of the things I’m able to help you with. Let me know what it is you’re looking to get out of the lesson and I’ll be sure to help you achieve that.

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I first developed my passion in music at the age of 12 (I'm now 26). I was obsessed with sound and the feeling I got when I would play the music I loved. For my 13th birthday my parents bought me a small DJ Controller and my journey began. After DJing for many years I decided to learn about Music Production. I took a few lessons and later fell in love with this too. It wasn't until I graduated from high school where my surprised love for Sound Engineering came to life too. Since then I've been working with artists around Australia to help Produce/Engineer their records to the highest quality I can provide. Oh and also, my favourite instrument is Ableton...
  • Is there a particular type music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

My favourite type of music to listen to as of lately is definitely Afro Beats. The way it blends my favourite elements of different genres together makes it so appealing to me. In saying that, I'm a huge fan of the producer Jon Bellion. He isn't as well known as your Timbalands or Pharrels but he is the greatest producer in my opinion.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or 'riveting' lesson you could personally give to one of your students.

The most difficult lesson I teach to students is FEELING. I believe it's difficult because it's subjective and everyone has different tastes. Students seem to believe there is a right or wrong way of producing/mixing but there isn't. At the end of the day if something feels good, run with it, don't fight it because of how you got there.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I'm not much of an instrumentalist but I will say I believe some of the hardest instruments to learn are strings. Reason being is because of the fingerboard and how it doesn't have frets like a guitar does.
  • What are your keys to success?

My keys to success would be consistency and passion. I know that's what everyone says but I've found it to be true for myself. I would not be in the position I am today without loving the craft and spending countless hours learning how to get better. You don't become great at music overnight. If you love what you do, you'll put in the work to be the best you can be and over time it will pay off.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

This is definitely a hard one to narrow down but I'd say Jon Bellion, Timbaland and Jacob Collier. They're all different in the way they approach production but I would just love to sit down with them and pick their brains. A mention in terms of mixing would be Teezio. He has many videos on youtube breaking down how he mixes but I would just love to be a fly on the wall to see exactly how he approaches mixing and why he makes the decisions he does.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your musical journey, or your days at 'music school'.

I can think of two pivotal moments in my career that got me started on this journey. 1. Visiting my family friend's house at a young age and being fascinated by the fact he was a DJ. 2. Visiting my cousin's house at a young age and meeting a popular music producer. Both these moments cemented for me just how much music was a passion for me. After each visit I would spend countless hours researching what we spoke about and implementing the things I learnt. The reason I believe these moments were so crucial for me is because if they didn't happen I don't think I'd be where I am now.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

The thing that makes me a Superprof is the fact that I'm multi-faceted. I love to Produce, DJ, Engineer and I have lots of experience in each area of music. I'm also a caring person who loves to see people grow and be the best they can be. I approach my lessons in a way that helps the student learn what they're looking to learn while also cementing it in by giving them the driver's seat to implement it.
