About Jarrad
I started playing guitar at 9 years old. I was a terrible student and never practised. Eventually I had enough of lessons and taught myself using the internet. This created an obsession which led to me studying music at college and later university. My influences started in rock and blues, with a great love for Led Zeppelin & Jimmy Page, but in university I became obsessed with diversifying, and when I went full time as a musician I had a rule that if I hadn’t done it before, I’d be willing to do it for free. I have since performed or recorded in a wide array of genres including Jazz, metal, funk and classical. Though I wouldn’t claim to be a master of all of these genres, I like to think I’m fairly well rounded. In 2017 I started working at a music academy in Kidderminster and worked my way up to management position, until I left during lockdown. Nowadays I teach drums at a studio in Wednesbury, but am eager to do more with the guitar again.

Everybody is different. I believe in getting to know a student and figuring out the best way to teach them. If you are struggling with something, I try to pivot and approach from a different angle rather than make you play my way. I find things are a lot easier if we incorporate music that you enjoy so that you can be excited about playing! I always prefer simplifying a difficult song that you love, over making to play ‘hot cross buns’ for 6 weeks. Unless you’re into that.
