I have recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Counselling after a Bachelor in Psychology, alongside several additional diplomas regarding mental health, managing romantic relationships and increasing emotional awareness. I make it my priority to do two things when working with people: I like to listen with genuine empathy and regard for their wellbeing, and then use what I've heard to determine what they are struggling with and to develop a positive outcome for them. This tends to mean I spend the first half of the session (particularly when I first meet them) asking questions and getting a better of a person's situation and what they're struggling with, and then the second half working towards potential solutions.
