About Shahana

Hello, my name is Shahana. I am a dedicated educator with over six years of hands-on experience within the UK school system, combining a degree in Psychology with proven expertise as an SEN Teaching Assistant. My academic background gives me a deep understanding of children's cognitive development, memory, and how to manage learning anxiety, allowing me to deliver highly effective, tailored lessons for primary and secondary pupils. I specialise in supporting diverse learning needs—including ADHD, autism, and dyslexia—as well as helping newly arrived students build their basic spoken English alongside core subjects. Parents can have complete peace of mind knowing that I bring a patient, professional, and evidence-based approach to every session, backed by a comprehensive, clean Full DBS check.

My Techniques & Teaching Methodology:
Because no two minds learn the exact same way, I do not believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach. My methodology combines my background in Psychology with hands-on SEN (Special Educational Needs) strategies to create a supportive, high-impact learning environment.
I use a step-by-step approach to break tough maths and science concepts into simple. Through interactive digital whiteboards and fun quizzes, I keep lessons engaging while transforming mistakes into positive learning moments. I also provide tailored English and Tamil language support to help new students thrive in the UK school system.

Duration: Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, which is the optimal sweet spot for maintaining focus and retention for Key Stage 1–3 students.
My Qualifications & Experience:
With over six years of hands-on experience in the UK school system, I combine a degree in Psychology with proven expertise as an SEN Teaching Assistant to support primary and secondary pupils with diverse learning needs, including ADHD, autism, and dyslexia. My academic background allows me to deeply understand children's cognitive development, memory, and stress management, enabling me to deliver highly effective, tailored lessons. Parents can also have complete peace of mind knowing that I am fully vetted with a comprehensive, clean Full DBS check.

My 1-to-1 online weekend classes are specifically designed for children aged 5 to 14 across Key Stages 1, 2, and 3 (KS1-3). This personalised tutoring is perfect for students who need to catch up or want to get ahead, as well as neurodivergent learners who benefit from a highly patient approach. Additionally, it is ideal for newly arrived students looking to build up their basic spoken English alongside their core academic subjects.
