About Jack

Hello, my name is Jack and I am studying psychology at the University of Southampton. Within my studies, I have specifically been interested in human behaviour, decision making, and mental health. Over time, this has led me to the field of teaching.

Prior to university I have studied 3 a-levels, reaching an A grade in all of my subjects. I also achieved highly in my GCSE's.

I would make the perfect tutor as I am very skilled at seeing another person's point of view, and identifying what a student struggles with academically. I accredit this due to my studies within psychology and understanding how other people think and feel. Moreover, I have recently been taking the same exams as you, therefore I can easily remember what it is like trying to learn the content and master exam technique.

Further to this, I ensure to pay special attention to the mental wellbeing of my students within my lessons. This is because I remember the stresses of being in your position. Hence I believe this to be a critical part of the education process.

I hope to be of some assistance to aspiring academics :)

About the lesson

Within my sessions, I like to take an individualistic approach to learning. In the first meeting I will identify the key strengths and weaknesses of the student. Following from this, outside of the lesson, I will formulate a specific plan to enable the student to learn most efficiently and effectively. I will create a structure of content, through which we will work on in each successive lesson, ensuring clarity in my tutoring. I also make sure to check in with my student(s) throughout the sessions, in case they have any questions.

I strive for my lessons to be a safe space for all students, whereby there are no "silly questions," and students don't have to feel embarrassed if they don't understand any of the material. After all, that's what I'm here for :)

All students that I work with not only grow academically, but also as people.
