About Janru

Hello! My name is Janru, and I am a 15-year-old South African national athlete, specializing in hurdles, sprints, running, and more. I have competed in our National Championships six times, and most recently, I won bronze in the pentathlon. My main focus is hurdles, with personal bests of 42.16 seconds in the 300m hurdles and 13.80 seconds in the 100m hurdles. I train every day under the guidance of my ASA-level certified coach, gaining extensive experience in technique, endurance, strength, discipline, and competition strategy. I’ve learned not only how to perform at a high level, but also how to overcome challenges, stay motivated, and grow as an athlete — lessons I now bring to my coaching. What makes me unique as a teacher is that I can relate to young athletes personally, sharing insights from my own journey, both the victories and the setbacks. I am still developing as an athlete myself, but my love for the sport is unwavering, even when I don’t win or perform exactly as I expect. I am deeply grateful for my health, my supportive coach, my family, and above all, being chosen by God to be in this position, because He knew I could achieve this. I want to awaken the love for the sport in you, just as so many people inspired me, and offer everything I’ve learned to help you become the best athlete you can be.

About the lesson

I am a 15-year-old South African national athlete who has trained in athletics for years and continues to train every day. I love teaching because this is my personal sport — one I am passionate about with every ounce of my heart. What makes me unique as a teacher is that I don’t just teach theory — I share my personal experience, practical training techniques, and insights gained from competing at a national level. I coach young athletes in English and Afrikaans, offering hands-on, fun, and tailored lessons that focus on improving speed, strength, endurance, and technique. My goal is to inspire young athletes to push their limits, build confidence, and reach their full potential, helping them become the best version of themselves both on and off the track.
