About Astrid

Over 30 years of experience teaching languages to adults as well as at school and university have given me a unique insight into different learning styles and teaching methods. I have an MA in English, German and Celtic Studies (Freiburg, Germany) as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE, Aberystwyth, UK). I have extensive experience in preparing students for their GCSE and A level exams. Currently, I work as a self-employed language trainer, translator and travel writer. I offer lessons for individuals as well as groups, online or in person (at my home, at your place or in a public space) and I am fully DBS-checked. I can accommodate any level in German or English, especially Business English.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailor-made for your individual needs, be it for school (GCSE/A level preparation), university, business, travel or just because you love learning. You will have the opportunity to practise listening, speaking, reading and writing using either your preferred materials or my own as well as authentic texts such as songs, video clips, magazine articles or even cookery recipes - depending on your interests. Of course, you will also learn about grammar and how the German language works.

The first lesson with Astrid will allow you to get to know each other and discuss your needs for future lessons.

Details

Cancellation Policy - Please give 24hrs notice, otherwise you will be charged the full amount. The first lesson (30 mins) will be a free consultation where we will discuss your individual learner needs and preferences. An additional £3 per 5 mi. distance will be added for cost of travel if the lessons are not held at my home or online. Group lessons will be charged at a decreased rate, depending on the number of participants.
