About Tracey

My name is Tracey Olver. I obtained a Higher Diploma in Education with isiZulu and Afrikaans as my two major subjects at the Johannesburg College of Education. When we moved to the Eastern Cape I dived right into as many books I could lay my hands on to move from isiZulu to isiXhosa. For those of you who are not aware, these two languages are very similar as they are both from the Nguni tribe. In addition to my independent study, I have had two personal tutors. I spent six years teaching isiXhosa as a second additional language in the intermediate phase at Primary School. (2010-2016) I then started teaching independently online and I have been doing that successfully for the past seven years. (2019-present).

About the lesson

Teaching isiXhosa is my passion.

Lessons with me are interactive and having fun is key. My teaching style is relaxed, non-threatening and upbeat.
I enjoy using realia, pictures and fun exercises and drills to empower my students to master their new skills.
Core notes and exercises will be emailed to you so that you have reference for you to practice from.

For children's lessons , parents will need to purchase an isiXhosa-English workbook for the level they are at at. We work together through the book and I supplement with many of my own exercises and drills. In addition to this we learn songs from isiXhosa videos.

While my target group is mainly for children aged seven years and upwards, I also enjoy teaching adults.
If there are parents with children younger than seven, I am open to discussion and I will adapt lessons to the individual needs of your child.

Tracey isnt airy-fairy! Everthing she teaches you will be grammatically correct for sure. She lays down a good foundation which would help you achieve great marks at school. Each lesson is interesting and set out according to your age group. Tracey is the go to teacher for your child to learn this as a second language. I have seen examples of her work done with 6year olds right up to teenagers. She has the personality to keep up that interest which is essential to wanting to learn.
