About Tomomi

Konnichiwa! I’m Tomomi, a Japanese language tutor.
I’m from Iwate Prefecture in Japan, and now I live in Melbourne.

I provide an environment where you can learn Japanese in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, as if you were with friends, without feeling nervous.

Every learner has different goals and learning styles, so my lessons are fully customized to fit your needs. I mainly teach beginner to intermediate learners, but I also welcome advanced students depending on the content.

You can send me questions anytime, 24/7, even outside lesson hours. I’m here to support your learning journey every step of the way.

About the lesson

・A friendly start for complete beginners
If you’re new to Japanese, don’t worry—I’ll guide you from the basics of hiragana and katakana.
Most students become able to read confidently within about three weeks of taking my lessons.

・Grammar-focused lessons with or without textbooks
If you want to build a strong grammar foundation, we can use textbooks during lessons.
You don’t need to prepare any materials - I will provide worksheets and resources tailored to your goals.

️・Survival Japanese for travel
Planning a trip to Japan?
We’ll practice essential expressions through role-play, so you can travel confidently and enjoy a stress-free experience.

️・Conversation practice for those who want to speak more
If you’ve learned the basics but have little chance to use Japanese, I’ll be your conversation partner! We’ll talk about various topics, and I’ll correct your grammar and pronunciation naturally. After each lesson, I’ll provide a feedback note to help you review.

・Learning through anime, news, or your favorite content
If you prefer studying with anime, news clips, dramas, or YouTube, I can adapt the lesson to your interests.
