About Joshua

Hi, my name is Joshua. I am a fully qualified level 3 tennis coach with over 15 years of experience. I have coached a range of different ages and levels of ability from beginners, performance players and even professionals. I offer tailored tennis lessons based on technique, drills, footwork, coordination, fitness and more to help improve your game and overall performance. From a young age and still to this day I play competitive tennis, managing to reach top 10 nationally, playing in the road to Wimbledon, representing my University and much more. I also work closely alongside my brother who played div 1 college tennis in America, went professional for several years and achieved ATP points and now the two of us work together making tennis content (tips, drills and more) on social media. He has taught me a lot and I implement a lot of the exercises we do in the videos in my daily tennis sessions. Since beginning the journey of documenting drills and tips on social media.

  • At what age did you start playing sports? Tell us about this time or moment in your life.

I started playing a variety of sports at a young age. I got into tennis around the age of 6 or 7 which became my main sport. My mum and brother got me into the sport and seeing him grow and compete in this sport motivated me to do the same. I was strongly influenced by my mum and brother who are both great tennis players and pushed me to do great things.
  • What are your favourite sports; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and a sport that you'd still like to discover?

My favourite sport has to be tennis as it has given me so many opportunities. I still to this day play tennis to a high level and regularly compete in competitions/ tournaments. I also have a lot of love for skateboarding. That's also a hobby that I've been doing for over 10 years. I feel like skateboarding was completely different to any other sport that I've previously done. Most of my strongest memories are through skateboarding where I spent my childhood learning new tricks, filming videos and meeting people. I also have a strong interest and passion for kickboxing/ Muay Thai and regularly train. This sport is so brutal and tough which is why I love it.
  • What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue your sport?

I get a lot of motivation and passion to pursue in these sports as I have a strong drive and desire to improve within myself and mainly learn, adapt and practice new skills and tools. Also, the feeling of mastering a new trick or perfecting a tricky technique is a feeling like no other.
  • Do you have a sporting achievement that you're particularly proud of?

One sporting achievement that I have a strong memory of is managing to win the Georgians and Coolhursts tennis tournament consecutively for 2 years running, I remember how hard I trained leading up to that competition but also how happy and proud my parents were seeing me not only compete but win.
  • How have your achievements and challenges made you a better sportsperson?

Growing up I was definitely a sore loser haha but these achievements and challenges have helped me overcome specific hurdles and challenges and also become more respectful and appreciative. Specifically in tennis, I've learnt that even if you're losing you shouldn't give up and can still turn the situation around.
  • If you had to go for a jog with a famous athlete, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?

If I had to go for a jog I would probably choose someone like Anthony Joshua, Roger Federal or Jon Jones. I would ask them for their advice on how to train effectively for their specific sport and how they managed to stay at the top for so long despite all the pressure and also any advice to a younger person who admires them.
  • How do you help people stay motivated?

I help people stay motivated by keeping things simple and fun but also switching things up. I like getting my friends and family involved in sports that they may not be familiar with such as combat sports as it can put you in uncomfortable or tricky situations that force you to overcome and adapt.
  • What makes you a Superprof in sports?

I enjoy learning but I also enjoy passing on all the knowledge, information and wisdom that I have in a specific sport. I find it so fascinating that everyone has their own learning/ teaching style and also that you can never complete a sport. There's always thousands of new obstacles, skills and challenges to overcome.
