About Andrew

I am an experienced secondary school maths teacher with QTS. I worked in school for over 15 years, teaching a range of abilities. I have taught GCSE Maths and GCSE Statistics using OCR and EDEXCEL Schemes. I worked exclusively face to face until lockdown, but that experience has taught me to develop a whole range of skills which enable me to teach online. I can travel up to 10km locally but this will incur an additional cost.

About the lesson

I care deeply about teaching and learning and mathematics is a passion of mine. I help students gain confidence in their abilities and enable them to master skills they never thought they could. I understand that some concepts take a while to be understood and have found that a patient, positive approach can help them to get past impediments to their learning. I also help higher achieving students to challenge themselves and aspire to become even better. My first session is free of charge and I will use it to understand the needs of prospective students. At the end of the session I will have a frank and honest discussion with the student and/or parents or guardians outlining areas of strength and weaknesses, together with a plan of how we may proceed. My only pre-conditions for working with a student are that they come with a positive attitude and are prepared to learn. I want students to enjoy their lessons, have plenty of successes and look forward to the next session.
