About Lourdes
Hi, I’m Lourdes. I’m a qualified teacher with 15 years of experience teaching English to diverse students, and nine years of teaching Math to K-7 students. I've completed my Bachelor of Secondary Teaching and MA in Educational Management in the Philippines and currently I'm at the last two trimesters of my Master in Teaching Secondary at the University of New Castle. Furthermore, I’m pursuing my master’s degree to deepen my knowledge and enhance my teaching practice. My major disciplines are English, PDHPE, Religion Studies and Math as a minor subject for primary levels. Teaching is my passion—I believe in combining love and diligence in everything I do, and my goal is to create a learning environment where students feel supported, inspired & motivated to achieve their best and excel in life.

Teaching Approach, Methodology & Curriculum Alignment
My teaching philosophy is built on clarity, confidence, and connection. Every learner is unique, so lessons are carefully tailored to the student’s age, learning needs, and goals. Across all year levels and subjects, my focus is on building strong foundations, developing transferable skills, and fostering a positive attitude toward learning.
Australian Curriculum Alignment
All lessons are based on the Australian Curriculum and are explicitly aligned to the General Capabilities. Lesson targets prioritise the application of skills across learning areas and real-life contexts, with a strong focus on:
Applied Literacy – reading comprehension, writing, spelling, grammar, punctuation, speaking, and listening
Applied Numeracy – problem-solving, reasoning, data interpretation, and real-world mathematical application
Digital Capability – safe, effective, and purposeful use of digital tools and online platforms
Visual and Multimodal Literacy (Multi-literacies) – interpreting and creating meaning through images, diagrams, graphs, tables, videos, and digital texts
This capability-focused approach supports success in classroom learning, NAPLAN, and beyond.
Lesson Structure
Lessons are structured yet flexible and typically include:
Warm-up and revision to consolidate prior learning
Explicit teaching of new concepts using clear explanations and visual supports
Guided practice with scaffolding and modelling
Independent practice to build confidence and accuracy
Feedback, reflection, and goal-setting to monitor progress
Students are encouraged to actively participate, ask questions, and think critically in a supportive learning environment.
Subject-Specific Methodology
NAPLAN English (Years 3, 5 & 7)
NAPLAN English lessons are aligned with the Australian Curriculum and focus on both Language Conventions and Reading & Writing. Students are supported to:
Improve reading comprehension through analysing fiction, non-fiction, and multimodal texts
Develop writing skills for narrative and persuasive texts, including planning, structure, vocabulary, and editing
Strengthen spelling, grammar, and punctuation using targeted strategies
Build confidence with NAPLAN-style questions and time management techniques
Explicit instruction and regular practice help students understand how to respond accurately and effectively under test conditions.
NAPLAN Mathematics (Years 3, 4, 5 & 7)
Lessons focus on problem-solving strategies, mathematical language, reasoning, and exam-style questions. Students learn how to approach questions strategically, improving accuracy, efficiency, and confidence.
Kindergarten English & Mathematics
Early learning sessions are play-based, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. Lessons use games, visuals, stories, and hands-on activities to build early literacy and numeracy skills while fostering curiosity and confidence.
Adult English – Beginners
Lessons focus on practical, everyday communication, pronunciation, functional grammar, and vocabulary. A supportive environment helps adult learners gain confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
IELTS Academic & General Training (Expert Coaching)
IELTS preparation is personalised and results-focused:
Targeted strategies for Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening
Speaking mock tests with detailed feedback
Clear breakdown of Writing Task 1 and Task 2 aligned with band descriptors
Focus on coherence, accuracy, vocabulary, grammar, and time management
Sessions are offered one-on-one or in small groups for maximum individual support.
PDHPE & Volleyball Coaching (K–Y10)
As a PDHPE teacher, I focus on skill development, teamwork, fitness, and personal growth. Volleyball training sessions (groups of 6 or more) are structured, energetic, and skill-focused, supporting both physical and social development.
Religious Studies – All Levels
Lessons encourage understanding, critical thinking, and respectful discussion. Students are guided to connect religious concepts with values, ethics, and real-life contexts.

I know Lourdes on a personal level as a friend from church and a friend of our family. I really appreciate that she cares for people and has a big heart. As a tutor I know that she will spend the time to get to know her students and care for them. She is always positive and encouraging.
I met her in Australia when I came overseas for work. She is a very kind, patient, and intelligent person. She helped me improve my English by talking with me every day and always correcting my sentences and verb usage when I made mistakes. Because of her guidance, my English has improved day by day. She is also very capable of teaching English to people who want to take the IELTS test and helping them achieve a good result. I highly recommend her to other Superprof members because her teaching method is clear, effective, and very well structured

Lourdes is an incredible tutor! She is patient, knowledgeable, and has a gift for explaining things clearly. I can’t recommend her enough to anyone looking for academic support.Lourdes was my classmate in highschool. I have known her as a smart person. She was our class section's representative for Mr. & Ms. Highschool. She was also a varsity volleyball player in our school and I really idolized her playing techniques and skills. I'm sure she can help students learn those techniques and give them more knowledge in various programs or subjects.
She has taught and tutored students of all levels in kuching Malaysia, including my son in year from form 5.
With her guidance and support my son achieved an outstanding result of "A" in SPM English ( Malaysia's national examination.) We are incredibly grateful to Lourdes-----she is truly amazing.Lourdes is very committed on teaching people. She was a great help for me during the time we work together. We always consult and ask her help to correct our english when we do formal letters and other work form, she was always there to help.
She is an polite and kind English teacher! Based on my experience, I idolize her because she speaks English fluently. You can learn a lot from her and she has a lot of patience. But don't abuse her kindness.
