About Aisling
For the past 14 years, I have been fostering the next generation of problem-solvers as a Secondary school teacher in the UK and Ireland. I originally studied Civil Engineering which stemmed from my love of Maths, Applied Maths and Physics, and also as I have a questioning mind, always needing to know how things happen. Having strong analytical and problem-solving skills, Engineering was the obvious choice. I then studied a Post Graduate Diploma in Education. I have a deep understanding of Maths and the Sciences and a keen interest in teaching young people so that they too will gain the same understanding and see Maths as I saw it, not as a set of formulas, definitions and theorems to memorize, but as a necessary set of skills for everyday life. I wanted to pass my knowledge and eagerness to future generations. Maths skills translate into lifelong analytical skills, skills that are essential to addressing the greatest challenges of our day in fields as diverse as Technology, Engineering and Science. I am particularly interested in encouraging young women to pursue education and careers in traditionally male-dominated fields such as Engineering, Science, and Technology.

When I tutor Maths students, I focus on building their confidence as much as their skills. I break problems into manageable steps and celebrate small wins so they feel a sense of progress. I also connect abstract concepts to real-life examples, which helps them see the value in what they’re learning. Most importantly, I encourage questions and reassure them that mistakes are part of the process, a sign of learning, not failure. I help schedule revision, mark work and keep them on track for state examinations.
