About Emily
I am a first-year student at QUT studying a dual Bachelors degree in Psychology and Nursing. Although I have had no prior tutoring experience, I greatly enjoy helping others, particularly young people, develop and nurture their skills to allow them to be the best English student they can be. Throughout my senior year of high school, I maintained a high level of success in my English studies and graduated with an A- overall. My senior subjects required a high level of knowledge of the English language and allowed me to gain experience in many types of writing, including analytical, evaluative, reflective, persuasive and creative writing. Furthermore, my studies of German in high school enhanced my knowledge of basic English grammar and vocabulary by allowing me to draw upon the similarities and differences between the two languages. I believe that my level of experience would allow me to successfully tutor children of primary school age, as I am fun, bubbly, easy to talk to and great with children. I take pride in making sure that every child's learning experience is positive and tailored to their specific needs, interests and preferred methods of learning.

I believe the most important aspect of teaching is ensuring the student's specific needs are met. My main focus is to ensure your child is learning in a positive environment in which they feel comfortable, respected and safe. Depending on the area in which your child needs the most attention, my lesson plans will include a combination of individual work, activities, and games that make the learning process as fun and engaging as possible. I believe that learning should be fun, not a chore, and my lesson plans will support that. I am happy to design a specific lesson plan, based on your child's prior knowledge, skill level and preferred learning method (visual, aural, verbal or physical).
